I just realized that my last post was from AUGUST. Brother... While I can't guarantee that I will make particularly regular updates, I will try to do better than once every 7 months.

Work has been intense for a while. For so long, actually, that I haven't had a day off in...well, i wish I could tell you. So, today, I took a day off. A real didn't-change-out-of-my-bathrobe-all-day kind of day off. I don't think I even talked to anyone on the phone, with the exception of my mom and that persistent telemarketer.

I certainly needed the break. I've been having to ice my arm again lately which is not good. The upside of that, however, is that work is really busy. One of the projects we've been working on lately is for Daniel's brother's company, Aviation Intertec. 99.9% finished their website re-design. You can view it here:

In other news, Piers started drum lessons a few weeks ago. He seems quite engaged. It seems like a good fit for him and we're all pretty excited about it.

Freya, in the last month, has actually started speaking at school. She wouldn't speak in anything but a whisper to anyone but her teacher while at school. Seems like she has finally warmed up enough to be comfortable talking to other kids. Finally :)

The two of them continue to get along like two peas in a pod. Piers told me today that part of the reason they get along so well is because they have a "similar sense of humour". Makes good sense to me :)

Daniel continues to work at the University and we're counting down the classes until he's done for the year. We're both looking forward to having more of his time to work on the business together. Four more to go.

Peter and Shereen came over Friday night and helped Daniel and I start putting together F1 Ferrari that I've been dying to build. Much wine was consumed. All in all, a good night ;) Quite a project. A group effort finally finished off the building sometime Monday afternoon.

This past week has been busy at work as we moved from our office on the third floor of the airport to our new space on Cumberland. Even though we're still surrounded by boxes and renovations, I am loving the new location.

Lots o Lego in my world these days. I am recently back from the Lego headquarters in Enfield, CT of all places. Picked up these fabulous little Star Wars Lego magnets for the kids. They have played with them non-stop since my return. There is, however, the incessant search for the missing light sabres. We just can't seem to keep all the pieces together...

Christmas

Other than struggling through a few bouts of sickness, we have had a lovely Christmas. We were able to spend time with my parents on Christmas Eve, and saw both the Hansen and Walter families Christmas Day. It was a long day (Piers managed to last until about midnight) but the kids were fantastic. On the gift front, Piers is now the proud owner of a beginner drum kit, and I the owner of a heavy bag for boxing. The Hansen household just got a whole lot louder ;)

For Christmas, Daniel and I bought each other a Canon G7 due to the fact that our old camera had the LCD screen smashed in. It's certainly no digital SLR, but we're both having fun playing with the new options and external flash.

A random, out of the blue conversation at the dinner table the other night:

Freya: You guys are not a bird feeder.

[Pause...blank stares.]

Me: "You guys are not a bird feeder," is that what you just said, Freya?

Jacuzzi & art class

Piers just finished a 4 week art class at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. Freya was quite interested in seeing what Piers was up to. We were staying with my Mom that weekend while my Dad was away, so she joined us for art class as well. The other highlight of our weekend at Meme's house was the jacuzzi tub. Lots of fun in the bubbles...that is, until Piers almost suctioned his finger off.

Another bellowing moment, this time Freya's turn. She was upstairs in the bathroom tonight yelling quite loudly. I was out in the hallway and couldn't make out what she was saying. I walked into the bathroom and there she was, standing in front of the open toilet, yelling the same thing, over and over... "FISH...COME BACK!"

On Valentine's Day, as we were all getting ready to go out to the car, Piers made his way out the door first. He was standing in the middle of the front yard yelling at the top of his lungs. He was bellowing so loudly that I couldn't decipher what he was saying. It sounded something like, "AAAHHHHJAAAAYAAADAAAAAAA!!!" (If you spend much time with Piers, you'll be well acquainted with this type of noise.) Not wanting to disturb the entire neighbourhood, I rushed outside, touched Piers on the arm and said, "Piers...what on earth are you saying?" He replied, "I just wanted to tell everybody to 'Enjoy their day!'" Well, I couldn't really fault him for that, now could I;)

My highschool friend Melanie (was McCallum, now Bradley) was over for a visit last night with her husband, Drew, and baby, Parker. I could not believe Parker's immediate boldness and energy. No hesitation to come to me or play with the kids. Great to visit with them.
